A Luverne man spending some of the winter months in Arizona made it a memorable stay by recording a hole-in-one Thursday.
Jack Hommen, who returned to Luverne in 2017 after growing up here, registered his first ace at Western Skies Golf Club in Gilbert, Arizona.
Playing as a member of a foursome along with Luverne’s Tom Skattum, Hommen pulled a 9-iron out of his bag to play the par-3, 123-yard fourth hole.
His tee shot cleared a mound of grass located in front of the green, but the same obstacle caused Hommen to lose sight of the ball.
Hommen believed his ball may have rolled off the backside of the green when he reached it before becoming pleasantly surprised to find it in the cup.
“That was my first hole-in-one and now I can scratch it off my bucket list,” he said.
