The Luverne Country Club has a new manager entering the 2020 golf season.
McKenzie Helgeson is the new person in charge inside the clubhouse.
Helgeson replaces Denise Iveland, who served as the LCC’s manager for the last four years before moving to Nebraska with her husband, Mark Iveland.
Helgeson, 24, is a native of Morris, Minnesota.
She graduated from Morris Area High School in 2013 and attended college at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall after high school.
Helgeson graduated from the institution with an Academic Behavioral Strategist degree in 2018 and is nearing the end of her second year as being a special education instructor in Worthington.
Helgeson said she was a softball player, not a golfer, during her high school years in Morris.
She is familiar with the LCC, as she worked in the clubhouse in the summer of 2018.
Helgeson is looking forward to her first season as the LCC’s manager.
“I’m really excited about it,” she said.
“I know it’s a really fun atmosphere to work in and I think there are some opportunities to do some fun stuff at the LCC.”
Helgeson will face a challenging schedule in the coming months with school still in session at WHS.
The LCC is hoping to be open for business on April 1 (possibly earlier if the weather cooperates), and other employees will be in charge of the clubhouse until Helgeson arrives from Worthington around 4 p.m.
School is in session until May 31st at WHS, and her schedule at the LCC will change then.
McKenzie and her husband, Travis Helgeson, reside in Beaver Creek.
