“Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Grandpa Ole and Grandpa Sven were enjoying the sunshine, sitting and visiting on a park bench. They had been meeting to play shuffleboard every sunny day for over twelve years.
One day Grandpa Ole turned to his longtime friend and said, “Please do not be angry vith me. I am embarrassed, but vhat is your name? I am trying to remember, but I yust cannot remember.”
Grandpa Sven stared at him, looking very distressed, and said nothing for almost two minutes. Finally he answered, “How soon do you haf to know?”
How do we deal with frailties? Sometimes we worry about others judging us for our weaknesses and mistakes when they are struggling with their own problems. We are all human. None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes.
We make choices to be compassionate or to think ourselves superior or even inferior to others. Sadly we often compare ourselves with others to make ourselves feel better — not realizing how easy it is to hurt the person we try to look better than. Do we look with disdain on the weaknesses of others? Do we make fun of people who don't have the talents and privileges that we do? In God's eyes we are all equally precious. He is not impressed with the things we own or how we look. He doesn't care about our intellect or the color of our skin. All He cares about is the condition of our heart.
Dear Lord, in You alone we put our trust. None of us knows what the future holds, but we know that You hold the future in Your hands. Help us to be kind and compassionate to those who need our help. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
