•Barry and Amy Cowell, Luverne, saw the tragic aftereffects of Hurricane Katrina and wanted to do something to help.
Barry is a driver for Christensen Trucking and got the idea to donate time and a truck to take relief supplies to the Gulf Coast. He set a semi-trailer in the parking lot across the street from Glen’s Food Center, got a sign donated from Pride Signs in Sioux Falls, and the donations started coming.

•Wednesday, September 29th, has been definitely, as well as finally, decided upon by Herman Jochims as the date of the formal opening of his New Palace theatre. Owing to the inability of the contractors to complete the play house in time, the date of opening was last week postponed from September 22nd to September 28th, only to have new complications arise through an error on the part of the theatrical company engaged to present the initial performance. But the difficulties were overcome by the selection of Wednesday, September 29th, as the date.
As previously announced in these columns, the opening attraction will be the big musical comedy, “The Prince of Tonight,” which will be presented by a company of thirty-five people of recognized ability, who carry a special car of scenery.
