•A small tornado is being blamed for damage at the Cardinal Drive-In and Dunkle Trailer area on the east edge of Luverne City Park.
Luverne Police Chief Keith Aanenson said Officer Russ Monson spotted a tornado from the Luverne Airport at about 7:15 p.m. Monday.
Shortly afterward, high winds or a tornado ripped away the sign and portions of the awning at the Cardinal Drive-In and mangled seven travel trailers parked farther east.    Winds also uprooted a large pine tree in the park and severed a nearby power pole. …

•Having exhausted every apparent source of obtaining information, without results, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Dell, of this city, have about given up hope of ever learning the exact fate of their son, Private Elmer J. Dell, who has been numbered among the missing in France since October 15th.
Private Dell was one of the Rock county boys who enlisted in old Co. A., and the first official report of his disappearance was received by the parents the first part of February, and this information stated that he had been missing since October 30th.
But Mr. and Mrs. Dell were aware of their son’s disappearance before that time, for they received a letter from their other son, Private Buril Dell, who enlisted at the same time, and who was a member of the same company in France that Elmer belonged to, and the brother wrote that Elmer disappeared on October 15th.
It was during the fighting in the Argonne Forest that the soldier disappeared and according to the information received from the brother, the point at which Elmer was last seen remained no man’s land for two weeks after the battle of October 15th.
