Dispatch report
June 30
•Complainant requested to speak with the sheriff about an impounded vehicle.
•Complainant reported that there are two windows broken out of his neighbor’s home.
•Complainant reported she is concerned for her daughter who is homeless in Luverne. Subject was last seen wearing gray stretch pants, white T-shirt, brown bandanna and glasses and carrying a paper sack. All squads were notified.
•Complainant reported that she wants an order for protection against her ex. Deputy directed them to the crisis center.
•Complainant requested a deputy to control traffic at North Kniss Avenue and Veterans Drive. Complainant is having vehicle troubles and is calling G&S. Dispatch phoned Erwin’s as a courtesy because G&S was busy.
•Complainant reported during an exchange of children, her friend’s ex wife’s friend hit her window with her hand. Deputy spoke with complainant via phone and advised a harassment order.
•Complainant reported that some kids were driving a vehicle of some kind around South Cedar Street and the fairgrounds lot. Nobody is hurt at this time. Complainant thinks there will be someone hurt soon. Deputy spoke with subject.
•Complainant reported a drunk man on the sidewalk at location stumbling toward Warren Street. Deputies investigated and found the man in the Casey’s bathroom on Highway 75. He was taken to jail.
July 1
•Complainant reported that they put the wrong size tires on the vehicle. It is now up on blocks at location, and they are running to Manley to get the right size. Green Dodge Ram pickup will be on the 400 block of West Warren Street.
•Complainant reported a possible sex offense.
•Complainant reported possible abuse and misconduct.
•Complainant reported a counterfeit $20 bill.
•Complainant reported she thinks the shoplifters from earlier in the year may be back. They left the store. They didn’t see them take anything, but the one’s purse seemed fuller than it did when she came in.
•Complainant reported family and child issues. Unfounded.
•Complainant requested to speak to a deputy about ex husband having people stalk her.
July 2
•Dispatcher received a 911 call that sounded like a pocket dial. Deputy checked the area that the call came from. No sound of distress, and it was a pocket dial.
•Complainant reported subject is traveling to Vermont, but is sick and the doctor doesn’t want them to travel. They are not sick enough to admit to hospital. Complainant advised subject said they did not have any money, so complainant is checking to see if we have any resources to help.
•Complainant reported a small fire along the side of the road. Not sure it will spread. Deputy put fire out.
•Complainant requested a residence check for the week.
•Metro Communications reported South Dakota Highway Patrol was in pursuit with a vehicle in Rock County.
•Complainant reported a store is open, but no one is there. The door was not locked.
•Complainant reported a vehicle driving out of control. Transferred to Minnesota Highway Patrol.
•Complainant reported they received a medical alarm. Complainant could not understand subject. Deputy advised no ambulance needed.
•Complainant reported a white four-door pickup with a trailer full of garbage going into the dump, and the dump is normally locked. Deputy advised it was the office manager for the transfer station.
•Complainant reported some teens shooting bottle rockets at kids on the beach.
•Deputy stopped at Mead Court to advise of fireworks statutes. Subject has a warrant out of Roseau County. Confirmed warrant, and subject came to Rock County Sheriff’s Office to bond out.
•Deputies searched a house that is supposed to be vacant. Had reports of power being on. House is owned by the bank and suspected of being used for something.
July 3
•Complainant reported theft of money.
•Dispatch received a 911 call from the Centennial Apartments with no one on the line. They dialed the wrong number.
•Complainant requested to have a deputy come in reference to an incident that just occurred.
•Complainant reported someone broke a window out of the back of a building on the 900 block of South Kniss Avenue.
•Hospital requested a deputy take subject back to her house.
•Dispatcher received an abandoned 911 call from a 911 only number.
•Complainant reported fireworks going off at location and near her residence.
•Complainant reported fireworks going off on West Luverne Street and West Brown Street.
•Complainant reported people walking around her backyard and looking under vehicles. Complainant’s husband spoke with them. They were looking for a lost dog. All is OK.
July 4
•Complainant called 911 and reported a domestic and hung up. On the map, it showed that it was not in Rock County. Notified Pipestone County, and they pinged the phone to see where it was. It was in Pipestone County, and they took care of it.
•Deputy arrested subject for DWI and took him to jail.
•Complainant reported a small fire in the alley close to Ace Hardware. Deputy advised a tarp was on fire, and he put it out with his extinguisher.
•Complainant reported there is a lady in distress outside, but he’s not sure what’s going on. Woman was brought to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and then taken over to the South Dakota line. Minnehaha County picked her up and took her to Behavioral Health.
•Complainant reported that she and her mother are not getting along, and she wants to stay at a motel but doesn’t have any money.
•Complainant reported a fire north of location. Complainant said he could see some people out by it, but not sure how big it was or if it’s controlled. Deputy went to check and advised it was a controlled burn and subject was putting it out.
•Dispatch received a 911 call from a 911 only cell. Could hear a group of people in a public place, but no response.
•Complainant dropped off a pair of glasses she found on the bench in front of the County Highway Department next to the sidewalk.
•Complainant reported via 911 that someone was outside her house banging on it below her bathroom window. Dispatch questioned if it may be fireworks, and complainant said she was sure it was a person. Deputy entered residence and listened with complainant. It was fireworks. All is OK.
•Complainant reported while driving from Jackson to Beaver Creek, she lost a go-cart off a trailer. Complainant has contacted Jackson and Nobles counties as well. Description: white racing go-cart with orange letters that read Anderson #29.
July 5
•Dispatch received abandon 911 from 911 only number.
•Complainant reported hearing bottle rockets at location. Warned all present at location to leave the city property.
•Complainant reported they found a bunch of clothes and medication by their building that belong to a woman we took to Sioux Falls earlier. They were taken to Behavioral Health.
•Complainant reported that something flew off a vehicle and smashed her windshield.
•Complainant reported a little girl’s purple and white Magna Misty bike has been next to her yard for a couple days now, and no one has claimed it. Complainant would like it picked up.
•Complainant reported a small grass fire by Highway 75 and County Road 20. Complainant advised he did not have anything with him to put it out. Someone from the park service put it out.
•Deputy cited subject for possession of a small amount of marijuana.
•Dispatch received 911. Could hear men talking in the background like they were working. Attempted call back with no answer. No signs of distress.
•Complainant requested to speak with someone about a gas voucher for a customer.
•Complainant reported some very small kids lighting fireworks on the porch across the street from him. He was concerned for the kids’ safety.
•Complainant reported someone tried to break into his place. No entry and nothing taken.
•Complainant reported someone stole her debit card number and used it at Walmart in Brookings.
•Complainant reported a small boy on a green ATV riding all over Magnolia. She said he is very small, and a couple days ago he was driving kids as small as him around and revving the engine. Subject allowed a couple of juveniles to drive four-wheeler through town. All parties were warned.
•Complainant reported a suicidal male. Deputy made contact with him, and he was fine and not feeling suicidal.
•Complainant reported kids setting off fireworks in a brown house on the south end of Third Street in Beaver Creek.
July 6
•Deputy reported he was flagged down and reported that subject’s daughter snuck out of the house.
•Complainant reported suspected sexual abuse.
•Complainant reported theft of a Matthew’s Creed limited edition bow valued at $1,400.
•Complainant brought in a couple of license plates that came off in the car wash on Highway 75. Contacted owners.
•Complainant reported the theft of a Playstation and three games. Approximate value $2,000.
•Complainant reported she was assaulted last night by her live-in boyfriend.
•Complainant reported her renter told her that her ladder was stolen from location along with $3,000 of his tools last week.
•Complainant reported a driver is driving around parking lots yelling at people and almost hitting people. There are kids in the back seat. Last seen at Glen’s.
•Pipestone County reported a 911 hangup from Rock County. Deputy found subject, and everything was OK.
•Complainant reported vehicle with fogged up windows in parking lot on the 300 block of North Summit Avenue in Hills. Complainant thought it was suspicious. Gone upon deputy’s arrival.
July 7
•Minnehaha County requested help in locating a subject who may be in Rock County.
•Complainant, who is an employee at Poplar Creek, requested help lifting up a resident who can’t get up. No injuries. Deputy assisted.
•Complainant reported a tractor on fire. Paged Luverne Fire Department.
•Reserved for entering of e-citations.
•Complainant reported subject wrote a bad check to Glen’s in the amount of $147.81.
•Complainant reported that some little kids were throwing rocks at her car while it was parked in the alleyway. No real damage; just chips from the rocks.
•Complainant reported that he is on the overpass at Luverne and has a flat tire. He would like some help, but doesn’t have AAA. Sent deputy to help out.
•Deputies arrested subject on a felony warrant out of Minnehaha County. He was taken to jail.
In addition, officers responded to 4 motor vehicle accidents, 1 deer accident, 2 transports, 5 traffic stops, 21 ambulance runs, 1 parking violation, 5 paper services, 8 animal complaints, 1 false alarm, 2 fingerprint requests, 2 driver’s license checks, 7 log/alarm sheets, 10 drug court tests, 4 money escorts, and issued 3 purchase/carry permits and 11 burn permits.
