Dispatch report
June 17
•Deputy stopped subject for curfew violation and having people in the car. She just got her license. Four females from the vehicle released to subject’s mother. Vehicle staying at location for the night.
•Deputy warned subject for tint on a just purchased Honda Civic. Back window 6 percent tint.
•Complainant reported her friend from Nebraska stayed with her last night. This morning the friend wanted to take a shower and was going to leave. When complainant got home, her T.V. along with some clothes were gone. She doesn’t know if there was anything else missing.
•Complainant reported there was a man outside shooting squirrels on the 400 block of Central Lane. Unknown type of gun he is using.
•Complainant reported concerns about poor living conditions and drug use.
•The National Weather Service reported there is a severe thunderstorm watch for Rock County until 9 p.m.
•Complainant reported debris on roadway on I-90 mile marker 1. Deputy moved it off the road.
•Complainant reported a vehicle went through yellow flashing lights at crosswalk without yielding to pedestrians. Deputy tracked down the vehicle.
•The National Weather Service reported severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Rock County.
•Dispatch received severe thunderstorm warning for southern Rock County. Notified Hills Fire Department.
•Complainant reported a tree down and partially blocking location. Contacted John with the city.
•Complainant reported his estranged wife is not welcome there. She is trying to take stuff from the house and has taken the kids. It is his understanding he will have them.
•Deputy reported a large tree down on the 800 block of North Freeman Avenue. Notified John from the city.
June 18
•Complainant reported a young Hispanic male and female came to the door and said they ran out of gas. Complainant gave them a gallon of gas, as the card they have only works for cash. Deputy will be leading them to the interstate and pointing them toward Casey’s. They are now on the interstate heading eastbound.
•Dispatcher received several calls with nothing on the line for an address in Beaver Creek. This has been a problem before, but they don’t have a phone there anymore, so it is the phone company’s problem.
•Complainant reported a male at her rummage sale who was slurring speech and stumbling. Did not smell of alcohol, but complainant was worried may be drunk or having a medical issue. Deputy stopped vehicle at location and everything checked out.
•Complainant reported subject violated order for protection by contacting complainant electronically.
•Complainant reported some people stopped in to report seeing a woman jump off bridge at location into river. Deputy and trooper checked area and were unable to locate anyone.
•Deputy arrested subject for DWI and took him to jail.
•Complainant reported unrestrained child in vehicle leaving McDonald’s and heading west on I-90. Minnesota Highway Patrol out of position. Deputies out of position. Notified South Dakota Highway Patrol.
•Complainant reported someone locked their keys in their vehicle at the drive-in.
•Complainant reported that her grandson’s riding lawnmower broke down at location, and they have contacted Bill Aanenson.
•Deputy ran vehicle by VIN. Silver Pontiac that looks stripped on inside. Towed by G&S. Conditions of release registration, insurance and licensed driver.
•While patrolling “The Lake,” deputy reported trash around a car and no one around. Picked up trash, left a note and contacted mother.
•Complainant reported a very drunk male. Deputy transported him to his residence.
June 19
•Complainant requested a welfare check on her son. He should be with his dad. Her other son told her that he has been jumping off the bridge in Luverne all day. Deputy spoke with son, and he admitted to jumping off the bridge. He indicated he was fine. No signs of distress.
•Deputy arrested subject for DWI and took him to jail.
•Deputy picked up subject, who was quite intoxicated and walking, and took him home.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on her other son. Complainant was told that they had just checked on the whole family a couple of hours ago and everyone was just fine.
•Complainant reported that the road seems like it may be starting to buckle in area at County Road 3 and 171st Street. Deputy reported everything looks OK.
June 20
•Complainant reported people are not stopping at the stop sign at County Road 6 and County Road 4, and there have been many accidents there. Complainant requested more patrol in the area, as it happens all times of the day and night.
•Complainant reported he sold a vehicle to someone in Iowa but did not get the man’s name. The vehicle is still registered in complainant’s name and was involved in an accident. Now they want to suspend his license.
•Complainant reported two unattended children in a vehicle with a camper trailer. Deputy investigated and found that an adult was in the vehicle.
•Complainant reported a child custody issue with her ex husband. Complainant has all paperwork giving her full custody rights of their children, and subject will not give them up to complainant. Deputies went to subject’s house at approximately 2:10 p.m. At 2:32 p.m. deputy reported the children returned to the complainant without incident.
•Complainant reported kids at location are jumping off the roof into the pool. Complainant says they need a talking to. Sheriff spoke with children at location, and found that one child had already sustained a minor injury due to jumping from the roof into the pool. The children agreed after speaking to him that this was not a safe activity.
•Sioux Falls Police Department reported a stolen vehicle possibly heading into Minnesota. Description is a red Ford F250 pickup with Olsen Plumbing on the side. Called back and said they had located it.
•Complainant reported finding license plate while mowing ditches in the township. Dispatch contacted owner.
•Complainant reported a vehicle she thinks matches a partial description from last week’s On the Record column in the paper. It is a reddish Monte Carlo. Complainant says the driver has no respect for older people, and he may live in her building.
•Complainant reported his sister being at her father’s house, and she does not have permission to be there. Deputy reported that now the daughter has permission to be at location, but the son does not.
•Reserved for predatory offender registration.
•Complainant turned in an identification card for Swift in Worthington that she found on the 200 block of East Main Street.
•Nobles County requested we move a vagrant west along I-90.
•Complainant reported two individuals on mopeds on the bike path. Two minor individuals were brought to the Law Enforcement Center.
•Complainant reported a stalled forklift one half mile west of Highway 23 on County Road 8. Complainant can not get it moved until morning. It is off the roadway, and they put flares on it.
June 21
•Complainant reported he had some information stolen.
•Deputies did checks on all the businesses, and they were all secure.
•Deputy observed lights on in a business. Subject that he spoke to said he had permission to remove parts from there. Deputy will verify with owner in the morning.
•Complainant reported he was repossessing a vehicle.
•Complainant reported a trespass issue.
•Complainant reported he was staying at a house in Luverne, and they kicked him out and won’t give him back his phone or wallet. Deputy helped him retrieve some of his belongings, and he left for St. Paul.
•Complainant requested we pick up subject on an A&D order.
•Complainant requested to meet with subject at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and have a deputy present, as there are children with him, and he has a volatile temper.
•Complainant reported that subject stole some of his property. Deputy advised that if subject comes back to his residence, to call the sheriff’s office.
•Complainant requested to speak to a deputy about a possible custody dispute.
•Complainant reported a vehicle stopped on the overpass at mile marker 16. It seems strange.
•Deputy arrested subject for DWI and took her to jail.
June 22
•Complainant reported a barn on fire on 171st Street. Paged Luverne and Hardwick fire departments to the scene.
•Complainant reported that her car broke down at location. She does not want it towed. She is working on getting it moved. She has five kids, and a lot of their belongings are in the vehicle. She was walking the kids home.
•Complainant reported that there is a light green kids style Huffy bike laying in the grass near their side door by the bushes on the 200 block of West Maple Street. Deputy will pick up the bike.
•Complainant requested we meet their deputy at the eastbound rest stop in Adrian for a transport to the South Dakota border westbound rest stop. Deputy from Minnehaha met and took custody of subject.
•Complainant reported that her daughter was released from jail, and she wants us to find her and keep her until they can come and get the vehicle. When told that she was already released and is on her own, she cussed up a storm, and the call was ended.
•Dispatch received several 911 calls regarding a male, possibly white, wearing black T-shirt and black shorts walking in the eastbound lane of traffic on I-90. Deputy spoke with male party, and he just had an argument with his girlfriend, so deputy gave him a ride to South Dakota.
•Complainant reported that their vehicle stalled at location. They are driving a Porsche and have three people in their car. Transferred to State Patrol.
June 23
•Complainant reported that subject was supposed to test on his monitor, and when they try to call his cell it goes to voicemail. Person at the residence said he was not home. Notified his probation officer.
•Deputy reported six juveniles at location. The two girls lied to their parents and told them they were at each other’s house. The other four were boys. Contacted parents to pick up the kids.
•Deputy was checking doors on Main Street and found one open on a business. Notified owner.
•Complainant reported someone vandalized and damaged a bunch of stones at the stone company in Jasper. Estimated value of $30,000
•Complainant reported that he believes he found the thief that took all his belongings from a theft in May. He has him with him at this time. Sent deputies to speak with the complainant and subject.
•Dispatch received pocket dial 911 call from workers at County Road 4 and 160th Avenue.
•Complainant reported there was lots of black smoke in the vicinity of Luverne that was able to be seen from Ash Creek.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on subject who sent a strange text message.
•Complainant requested fire department for air conditioner that is smoking. Paged Luverne Fire Department.
•Complainant reported subject came to residence and started arguing with mother of his child and refused to leave. Left scene in vehicle.
•Complainant reported they gave money to a company claiming to be Microsoft, and they gave out checking account information. This is a scam.
In addition, officers responded to 5 motor vehicle accidents, 12 traffic stops, 23 ambulance runs, 2 paper services, 3 animal complaints, 1 driver’s license check, 7 log/alarm sheets, 8 drug court tests, 4 money escorts, and issued 5 purchase/carry permits and 4 burn permits.
