On the Record Feb. 5 to Feb. 11, 2016

Feb. 5
•Complainant reported a trailer on fire in the parking lot. Owner of Glen’s was contacted and advised the trailer was away from the building, but there was some smoke damage to the front of the building.
•Deputy reported subject came up to him and told him he ran away from home. He was taken back home and things are fine for now.
•Deputy reported a vehicle abandoned on County Road 6 one half mile north of County Road 4.
•Complainant reported they own some land in Magnolia and a man lives in a trailer there. They have a verbal agreement with him. They want him to move out and have sent him several notices. She would like to know what they should do next.
•Complainant reported the smell of gas at location. Contacted Centerpoint Energy. It may take up to an hour for them to get to it.
•Complainant reported a semitrailer at location with the passenger side door open on I-90 near Luverne. Transferred to patrol.
•Complainant reported they have been having issues with their car. Took it to Stroeh’s, and they reported someone had put something in the gas tank. It happened three weeks ago and it is unknown if it occurred in Luverne or Sioux Falls.
•Complainant reported that someone stopped at his house to report that he saw smoke coming out of a silo at location. Requested county car drive by and assess situation. Owner uses silo as a burn pit. All is OK.
•Complainant requested deputies for a disorderly patient screaming and yelling at location. Subject was taken to jail and his vehicle was towed to G&S lot.
Feb. 6
•Complainant requested to speak to deputy regarding information he has on a murder investigation in Rawlins, Wyoming. Deputy talked to Rawlins Police Department. No murder investigation. It was a suicide.
•Complainant reported that subject has not paid rent, and they want him to leave. He is refusing to leave. Deputy transported subject to South Dakota.
•Complainant requested Salvation Army voucher for hotel room.
Feb. 7
•Complainant reported someone hit her car and drove off. She did not see it, but there were other witnesses. Witnesses said it was a dark silver Impala that hit the complainant’s car.
•Complainant requested deputy for violent patient. He was taken to jail.
•Complainant requested to speak to deputy in reference to a person who is suicidal. Deputy transported subject to the Luverne Sanford Hospital emergency room for mental evaluation.
•Complainant reported that subject has been out of control today. He is at grandma’s currently and behaving. Advised mother and grandma to call us if he gets out of control again, and we would deal with him.
•Complainant reported a cart from cart corral hit her pickup and left a scratch.
•Reserved for narcotics information.
Feb. 8
•Complainant reported that her fiancé was heading to this address to beat the crap out of her. She was afraid for her well-being. Deputy transported subject to Nobles County jail.
•Complainant received a vulnerable adult report.
•Complainant reported that she has a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend. His mother has her number in her phone and gave it to him. He has been texting her.
•Ambulance reported that snow was blocking the intersection at ambulance entrance. Called John Stoffel from the city. He will send somebody out.
Feb. 9
•Complainant requested a deputy come and help him with a minor incident.
•Dispatch received a fire alarm at Poplar Creek. Paged Luverne Fire Department. They called and said it was burned toast. Notified 100, and he said they would reset the alarm for them.
•Reserved for school zone patrol. Late start.
•Complainant requested assistance on activating new cell phone. Subject was an elderly male who couldn’t understand the procedure for activating a prepaid cell phone. Dispatcher helped him get set up.
•Complainant reported vehicles parking too closely to stop signs at this intersection. Deputy checked area and advised that there is no problem with the area.
•Reserved for school zone patrol.
•Dispatch reveived a 911 call. Only static on the line. Several callbacks produced the same results. Deputy checked area and building. Building was locked and secure with nothing else to note.
Feb. 10
•Dispatcher received a 911 hang up call. Called back and subject said it was a misdial.
•Complainant reported metal sticking out of the railroad tracks by Casey’s. Left a message for Brent. Spoke to Herbert and advised him it is sticking out of the ground about a foot and cannot be moved. It needs to be taken care of right away. No response from railroad. John Stoffel went to location and the department of transportation was there. They were able to remove the steel bar.
•Complainant requested a deputy to come to her residence to make her kid go to school. Child was taken to the emergency room for an evaluation.
•Dispatch received a 911 call. The caller stated that it was an accidental pocket dial and all was OK at that address.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on subject. Deputy went there, but subject would not answer the door.
•Complainant requested that the Sheriff’s Office observe traffic speeds of semitrailer trucks on Blue Mound Avenue.
•Complainant reported an individual is placing glass bottles daily on the railroad tracks on 100th Avenue just south of County Road 4. Complainant got license plate number from suspect vehicle.
•Complainant reported a car on fire in back lot of the Rock County Implement.
•Complainant requested to speak to a deputy about her husband being physically abusive. Subject left residence possibly going to Brandon, South Dakota. Brandon Police Department was made aware he may be in that area possibly intoxicated driving a maroon Oldsmobile. Requested if they locate him to contact Rock County.
Feb. 11
•Complainant reported a truck hauling hay with no taillights. Transferred to patrol.
•Complainant requested that a welfare check be done for her next-door neighbor. Ashley said that Wilma’s garage door is open and she in not answering the phone.
•Complainant reported that her neighbor is living in a camper with no plumbing, heating, etc. Lately, there has been a lot of traffic on and off that yard, which is abnormal. There is currently a vehicle there now. The complainant feels that there is something weird going on.
•Complainant reported that there is metallic debris in the roadway coming from the railroad tracks.
•Complainant reported that a vehicle did not yield to the crossing guard’s stop flag. The plate she observed did not match the description of the plate.
•Complainant reported that vehicle tailgated her for three miles and passed her in a no passing zone, then drove recklessly through town. Lost sight of vehicle at Luverne High School. Will sign complaint. Also passed on to Minnesota Highway Patrol.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on subject because he heard a lot of yelling. Deputy reported it was over the dishes.
•Complainant called 911 to say she needs something from staff, but they are ignoring her. Also stated she sometimes hallucinates. Contacted charge nurse at Tuff Home, and they said she is on hospice, and they will check on her immediately.
•Complainant reported they got a strange call from a number that sounded like moaning on the other end. Number belongs to Connie who lives in Richfield, but her mother lives at Mary Jane Brown. Requested Mary Jane Brown check on mother. Mary Jane Brown reports everything is okay.
In addition, officers responded to 6 motor vehicle accidents, 34 vehicles in ditch, 2 stalled vehicles, 3 traffic stops, 11 ambulance runs, 4 paper services, 9 animal complaints, 4 false alarms, 7 log/alarm sheets, 3 drug court tests, 2 money escorts, 1 emergency response unit call, and issued 3 purchase/carry permits and 5 burn permits.
