Dispatch report
Aug. 5
•Complainant reported he has been following a vehicle on I-90 where the driver has been texting the entire way. They are now in Rock County. Transferred call to State Patrol.
•Complainant reported a child in need of services.
•Complainant reported someone broke into his shop and took some things.
•Complainant reported a distracted driver on I-90 mile marker 16 westbound. Transferred to State Patrol.
•Complainant requested a welfare check on a young child.
•Reserved for predatory offender registration.
•Complainant requested welfare check for subject at location. Child was not there. The grandmother has the child in Pipestone.
•Complainant requested a deputy be present during a child exchange.
•Complainant reported approximately six individuals being rowdy and possibly intoxicated. Complainant said there was a black pickup at the park. Deputy advised he spoke to about a dozen teens and advised them to head home.
•State Patrol requested assistance on a driving complaint. White passenger car on I-90 westbound from mile marker 23 was swerving and driving in the grass, then back on the road.
Aug. 6
•As directed by the Department of Motor Vehicles, confiscated license plates were destroyed and disposed of.
•Complainant reported that she is watching her son’s home while he is gone and has discovered some property damage.
•Complainant reported a gravel truck losing product on the road at location. Complainant is currently following. Complainant notes that the truck said Adrian on it. Dispatch notified Patrol.
•Complainant reported subject came to location claiming he used to live there. Complainant says subject seemed intoxicated or confused. Subject had to check his license to tell complainant his last name. Complainant is concerned for subject’s safety, as he left in his vehicle heading east on 161st Street.
•Complainant reported subject swerving into oncoming traffic lane on North Cedar Street. Complainant is willing to sign a complaint.
•Complainant reported a vehicle speeding and weaving through traffic on I-90. Vehicle is a brown Honda CRV with Illinois plates. Transferred call to Patrol. Deputy went to assist.
•Complainant reported a lost license plate.
•Complainant reported that she was nearly run off the road by subject (husband). Complainant says that subject pulled alongside her in a no passing zone and then got in front of her and slammed on his brakes. Deputy made contact with complainant, and she said she did not want to press charges. She just wanted documentation of the incident.
•Complainant reported theft of a temporary dealer paper plate from his vehicle.
•Sioux Falls Police Department requested a deputy take pictures and speak to a female about a domestic assault that occurred earlier today. Subject is in Rock County.
•Complainant reported subject was making statements that he needed help. Taken in for mental health evaluation.
Aug. 7
•Complainant reported someone was drinking and being physically abusive. There was a language barrier. Unable to get much detail. Deputy advised there was not abuse, just a noise complaint about some subject being drunk and loud.
•Complainant reported some kids just broke down a door on the 600 block of North Spring Street. The house is abandoned and is set to be demolished.
•Complainant reported a driver was all over the road. He was concerned he was going to hit and kill someone. Complainant only described the car as silver with an Iowa plate. Dispatched deputy and also transferred the call to Pipestone County.
•Complainant requested a deputy arrest subject for a probation violation. Subject has been drinking. He was taken to jail.
•Complainant reported alcohol present and minors drinking at location. Minors leaving in a white SUV with South Dakota plates. Minnehaha County was notified as the R/O to the vehicle lives in Valley Springs. Deputy advised to cancel Minnehaha. Parents are going to deal with minors on their own.
•Complainant reported on 911 that the vehicle that left the scene of an  underage party went to Brandon, South Dakota. Complainant described the vehicle as a mid 1990s white Chevy pickup.
Aug. 8
•Complainant reported a car battery in the middle of the west lane of Highway 75 about halfway between Luverne and Hardwick.
•Complainant reported suspicious activity near three of their vehicles. There were approximately 500 to 1,000 flags taken out of their shed and one of their pickup boxes.
•Deputy reported a cable box/transformer has been hit at location. Notified city of Luverne.
•Complainant requested welfare check on subject because subject has been calling complainant to get on benefits but has never returned phone calls when called back, and today subject called weeping complaining of no food and not being safe. Deputy checked welfare and subject is in no physical danger.
•Complainant reported that subject has not been seen or heard from since early this morning. Subject was located in Sioux Falls at the emergency room.
•Complainant reported some kids riding skateboards on Highway 75 by Papa’s Place.
Aug. 9
•Complainant reported that she received a call from the South Dakota State Patrol saying they had her purse at the South Dakota rest stop. Complainant checked her house, and her door was open. The purse was returned, and the only thing missing was cash.
•Complainant reported they were installing a new washer and dryer. The dryer is gas, and they may have bumped the gas line. Would like the fire department to check the situation. Luverne fire department started. Assistant chief was on the scene and said to cancel Luverne Fire Department. Cancelled.
•Complainant reported that he spoke to the sheriff and had it approved to fly his drone in the location of the old dam near the park.
•Complainant reported that a pickup was driving on the walking path at location. Deputies went and spoke with a couple of city employees that were on the path spraying. Complainant was notified.
•Complainant reported some kids at Redbird Field. He spoke to them but wanted deputies to make sure nothing gets bothered.
Aug. 10
•Complainant reported they feel unsafe as someone may be coming to try and do them harm. Sent deputies and contacted Lyon County, Iowa.
•Complainant had questions regarding licensing of farm equipment trailers.
•Complainant reported an erratic driver on I-90 eastbound mile marker 7. Transferred call to State Patrol.
•Complainant reported debris on Highway 75 at I-90. Trooper heard traffic and will respond.
•Complainant requested to speak with a deputy about a custody issue. Deputy advised complainant to follow the court order and it is a civil matter.
•Complainant reported her daughter got upset and took off. She was located hiding on the property.
•Deputy reported he was out on a motorist assist on Highway 75 at County Road 20.
Aug. 11
•Complainant reported a stalled vehicle on I-90 westbound at mile marker 12. Deputy reported that the vehicle is abandoned and is off the roadway.
•Complainant reported a stalled vehicle on I-90 eastbound mile marker 1.
•Complainant reported a Publishers Clearing House scam. Complainant did not give out any information.
•Complainant reported that there are trucks ignoring the 45 mph speed limit in the area of County Road 3, and complainant would like deputy presence.
•Complainant came to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office to request a driver’s history report because of a ticket he had received on June 1, 2016, in South Dakota. His driver’s history shows the ticket on June 14, 2016. Complainant wanted this amended. When dispatch informed him that Minnesota has no control over this, he became upset and was verbally harassing. He left yelling.
In addition, officers responded to 2 motor vehicle accidents, 1 traffic stop, 10 ambulance runs, 2 paper services, 9 animal complaints, 3 false alarms, 1 false 911 call, 1 driver’s license check, 7 log/alarm sheets, 7 drug court tests, and issued 5 purchase/carry permits and 8 burn permits.
