Winter named ‘Best of Class’ at UMD
Luverne High School 2017 graduate Brandon Winter received the prestigious “Best of Class” scholarship at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, where he will be a freshman this fall.
The scholarship is awarded to first-year students who rank in the top 1 or 2 of their high school class.
It has a total value of 50 percent of resident tuition for four years of undergraduate study. The scholarship is renewable annually contingent on full-time attendance and a 3.0 grade point average.
Winter, son of Mike and Karen Winter, Luverne, is pursuing a degree in civil engineering.
 
A.R. Wood Scholarship Trust awards
Six 2017 graduates of Luverne High School are recipients of A.R. Wood Scholarship Trust awards. They are Madison Crabtree, Shelbie Nath, Knute Oldre, Dylan Thorson, Samantha Ykema and Brandon Winter.
Two prior graduates of Luverne High School, Nicole Kneip and Jenna Schelhaas, are recipients of renewal scholarships.
