Vis to attend Dordt College

Dalton Vis, a senior at Southwest Minnesota Christian, has announced his intention to attend Dordt College for the 2017-2018 school year. He plans to join the Defender baseball program there.

Dalton is the son of Steve and Kayla Vis, Beaver Creek.

 

Dordt College announces Spring 2017 graduates

Several Luverne area students graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, on Friday, May 5. Graduates with degrees and majors/minors are as follows:

Dominic Nibbelink, Bachelor of Arts in accounting and business administration with an emphasis in finance; Hyun Myeong Goo, Bachelor of Science-Engineer degree in engineering; Samuel Van Bruggen, Bachelor of Science-Engineer degree in engineering with a minor in computer science; Shelbi Gesch, Bachelor of Arts degree in English; and McKenzie Kooima, Bachelor of Arts degree in English with an emphasis in writing and a minor in journalism.

 

Local students named to USF Dean’s List

On the dean’s list for the Spring 2017 semester at the University of Sioux Falls were Luverne natives Elijah Dooyema, sports management; Heather Doerr, elementary education; and Tannen Heideman, social work.

To be named, students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

 

Gustavus Adolphus releases dean’s list

Tatiana Gust and Joseph Vajgrt, both of Luverne, were named to the Spring 2017 dean’s list at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.

To be named, students must achieve a GPA of 3.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

 

Horn named to spring dean’s list

Tucker Horn, Hardwick, was named to the dean’s list for the Spring 2017 semester at St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a GPA between 3.5 and 3.9 on a 4.0 scale.

 

Smedsrud makes St. Mary’s dean’s list

Kynzie Smedsrud, Luverne, was named to the Spring 2017 St. Mary’s University of Minnesota dean’s list. To be named, students must earn a 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Kynzie is the daughter of Steve Smedsrud and the late Pat Smedsrud.

 

DeBeer awarded scholarship

Ariel DeBeer, Luverne, has been awarded a $1,000 Minnesota Grocers Association Foundation Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded to employees or children of employees of member companies. Ariel’s mother, Sarah DeBeer, has worked for Teal’s Market (formerly Glen’s) for 25 years.

 Ariel plans to attend Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter.
