Alexandria Technical and Community College releases dean’s list
Aiden Bartels and Erica DeBoer, both of Luverne, have been named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2018 semester at Alexandria Technical and Community College. To be named, students must earn a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Lonneman named to dean’s list at Mount Marty
Mitchell Lonneman, Adrian, was named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2018 semester at Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota. To be eligible, students must be full time with at least a 3.5 GPA.
UMD names honor students
The University of Minnesota Duluth has announced the dean’s list for the Fall 2018 semester.
The following area students were named to the list:
From Luverne: Marisol Hartshorn, freshman, exercise science; Hanna Honerman, sophomore, elementary and special education; Mark Robinson, freshman, statistics and actuarial science; Lexie Severtson, senior, biology; Brandon Winter, sophomore, civil engineering.
From Jasper: Samantha Ykema, sophomore, biology.
USD announces dean’s list
The University of South Dakota has announced its academic honors and dean’s lists for the Fall 2018 semester. To be named to the dean’s list, students must earn a minimum of 12 graded credits with at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Part-time students are named to the academic honors list.
The following area students were named to the dean’s list:
Adrian: Aaron Marsh, Hannah Bullerman, Skylar Polzine.
Hills: Ashley Esselink, Tim Hartman.
Lismore: Dustin John.
Luverne: Amanda Jensen, Bailey Jacobsma, Maddie Stegenga, Mike Van Wyhe, Morgan Haugen, Jazmine Maria Aakriti Olson.
Steen: Jordan Bosch.
Amanda Walker and Paige Paquette, both of Luverne, were named to the academic honors list.
SDSU dean’s list
The dean’s list for Fall 2018 semester at South Dakota State University in Brookings appeared in the Jan. 10 Star Herald, but the college since then shared another name, Jazmine Maria Aakriti Olson, Luverne, that hadn’t been included in the school’s first list. To be eligible, students must earn a minimum of 12 credits with a 3.5 GPA.
Lake Area Technical Institute announces president’s list
Jared Jose, Luverne, and Kristoffer Severtson*, Kenneth, were named to the Fall 2018 semester president’s list at Lake Area Technical Institute in Watertown, South Dakota. To be eligible, students must be full-time and earn a 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Students with a 4.0 have been designated with an asterisk.
MSU Moorhead names honor students
Three area students were named to the Fall 2018 semester dean’s list at Minnesota State University Moorhead. To be eligible, students must earn a minimum of 12 graded credits with at least a 3.25 on a 4.0 scale.
Earning recognition were Grace Holthaus, Hills, speech/language/hearing science; Bryan Stanley, Luverne, music industry, commercial music; and Bryana Thorson, Luverne, theater arts.
Local student is finalist in SDSU design competition
Tessa Klarenbeek has been selected as a semifinalist in the national Steelcase Student Design Competition through the South Dakota State University, Brookings, Interior Design Program. Her project was selected from over 900 entries in 70 interior design programs across the nation.
Klarenbeek will present her project to a panel of judges in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in February, and all five of the semifinalist projects will be shared on the Steelcase Education website after the winner is announced Feb. 15.
She is the daughter of Vonda and Dennis Klarenbeek, Luverne, and is a 2016 graduate of Hills-Beaver Creek High School.
