Schacht named news reporter of year
Spencer Schacht, a 2015 Luverne High School graduate, recently earned two awards through the New Mexico Broadcasters Association.
He won best breaking news coverage for his report about a group of people stranded overnight on the Sandia Peak tram on New Year’s Eve. Schacht was also named the 2021 New Mexico News Reporter of the Year.
The association’s annual Excellence in Broadcasting recognizes outstanding achievements during 2021.
Winning entries demonstrate the exceptional, wide-ranging news coverage and public information, as well as entertaining content, creative production and new programming ideas for a fluid audience.
Schacht works Hubbard Broadcasting’s KOB-TV Channel 4 in Albuquerque. He has been at the station since July 2021. Previously he worked as a reporter with KTMF Channel 23 in Missoula, Montana.
The St. Cloud State University graduate is the son of Mike and Heidi Schacht, Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
