Jauert named District 112 Teacher of the Year

Jake Jauert was named 2017 Teacher of the Year at an April 23 award banquet, according to District 112.

Jauert has taught first and second grade at Clover Ridge Elementary School in Chaska since 2006.

He will receive a $3,000 grant and may represent Eastern Carver Schools in the Minnesota Teacher of the Year competition.

In addition to Jauert, the Teacher of the Year finalists included Eric Billups, Chaska Middle School East; Laura McCaghy, Clover Ridge Elementary School; Nancy Netz, Chanhassen Elementary School; and Travis Rother, Chanhassen High School.

The finalists received a $500 grants for their  schools.

Local insurance personnel honored

Pam Haakenson, Agency Manager of Buffalo Ridge Insurance of Luverne, is Regional Vice President of Region V of the International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP).

Pam’s responsibilities include developing leaders, influencing careers and connecting members through education in 11 states.

“Her insight, enthusiasm and passion have made the regional conferences and the organization stronger and successful,” stated an association spokesperson.

The following members of the Insurance Professionals of Greater Sioux Falls were named at the 2017 IAIP Region V Conference of the International Association of Insurance Professionals:

Kathy Moore- Stark, Underwriting/Marketing Specialist of Berkley Classics of Luverne, was named Insurance Professional of the Year.  The award recognizes excellence among those who have been employed in the insurance industry a minimum of ten years. 

Among the criteria considered in conferring the award are the candidate’s participation in association activities, involvement in the insurance industry, education programs, industry experience, current career position, activities undertaken in the community, and response to an industry-related essay question.

Jodi Tjeerdsma, Sr. Client Service Consultant, PC of Holmes Murphy & Associates LLC of Sioux Falls, was named Client Service Professional of the Year. The award recognizes excellence among those whose primary responsibility is in a service capacity with internal and external customers.

Among the criteria considered in conferring the award are the candidate’s participation in association activities, involvement in the insurance industry, education programs, industry experience, current career position, activities undertaken in the community and response to an industry related essay question.

Lori Boen, Claims Supervisor of Continental Western Group of Luverne, was named Claims Professional of the Year. 

The Claims Professional of the Year award recognizes excellence among those who work in some aspect of the insurance claims field. Among the criteria considered in conferring the award are the candidate’s claims experience and present professional capacity, formal education in the claims field, association activity and response to a claims-related essay question. 

Nadine Schoep, Human Resource Manager of Continental Western Group of Luverne, and Chris DeSchepper, Account Executive Manager of Howalt- McDowell Insurance of Sioux Falls, were given the Award of Excellence for their dedicated service and outstanding achievement in the association.

The International Association of Insurance Professionals was officially organized in 1940 and is an association of insurance professionals dedicated to the development of leaders in the insurance industry. The national organization has 225 local associations throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The association is best known for providing insurance education, skills enhancement, and leadership development to its members.

Hemme, Essman named Women of Excellence

Delta Kappa Gamma Society International honored Katie Hemme, Jasper, and Marcia Essman, Magnolia, members of Alpha Meta Chapter of Minnesota Tau State.

They were honored as Women of Achievement for 2016 and 2017 at the banquet on April 21 in St. Cloud.

Women of Achievement are honored for their service to the teaching profession, community and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. 

Delta Kappa Gamma Society International organization for women educators helps support them by promoting leadership and growth in personal and professional opportunities.
