Luverne Rotary essay winner earns third place at districts
Anna Banck, who was chosen as the Luverne Rotary Club Four-Way Test essay winner earlier this year, earned third place in the District 5610 essay contest.
Rotary member and local organizer for the sixth-grade essay contest John Call delivered the news to Banck’s parents, Tim and Becky, over the phone due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“With no Rotary meeting, I presented her with a certificate and ($50) check,” Call said.
The annual essay contest introduces students to the four-way test, which asks four questions to gauge whether thoughts, works and actions are appropriate. Winning essays at the club are entered in the district contest.
Banck’s essay was titled “Do you think before you post?” and focused on proper social media and texts with friends.
District 5610 encompasses South Dakota and portions of Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa.
