Patriots run at Section 3A True Team meet

By John RittenhouseThe Hills-Beaver Creek-Ellsworth-Edgerton track teams tested their skills at the Section 3A Track and Field Championships in Luverne Tuesday.The Patriot boys scored 242 points and placed fourth in a six-team field. With 221.5 points, the H-BC-E-E girls placed fifth out of seven teams.The H-BC-E-E boys won one meet title and placed second in three events.Tyler Bush produced the win by running 1,600 meters in 4:50.13. He finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:04.62.Cody Scholten placed second in the high jump by clearing 6-3, and the 3,200-meter relay team consisting of Kale Wiertzema, Tyler Paulsen, Brent Kramer and Derek Haak finished second in 9:21.37.The H-BC-E-E girls placed first in one event and second in three events during the meet.The 3,200-meter relay team of Mya Mann, Amanda DeBoer, Rayna Sandoval and Cassi Tilstra recorded the winning time of 10:42.91.Tilstra finished second in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.82, and ran a leg with the second-place finishing 1,600-meter relay.
