Florence Clara Ida Kitchenmaster, 94, Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Rock Rapids Health Centre in Rock Rapids.
A funeral was Friday, Aug. 18, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. Burial followed in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in rural Steen.
Florence Kitchenmaster was born March 3, 1923, to John and Emma (Lauck) Kitchenmaster at their home near Steen. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church near Steen. She was raised on the family farm and attended Allison Township Country School. She helped with the family farm and worked as a helper for relatives and families in the area in her younger years. She lived most of her adult life on the family farm helping her brother Louie with daily chores.
She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, active with Daughters of Peace and the quilters group. She enjoyed baking, needle work and playing card games. She also took many bus trips with her brother Louie. Florence provided care for her mother until her death. She also provided care for her brother Louie when his health began to fail. In 1980 she and Louie moved to a home in Rock Rapids, Iowa, where she remained living until her death.
She is survived by two sisters, Nora Ranschau, Rock Rapids, and Doris Stegenga, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nieces and nephews, Carol Weber and Dolores Weber, both of Luverne, Wayne (Chris) Ranschau, Doon, Iowa, Brenda (Gary) Richardson, Alton, Iowa, Beverly Kitchenmaster, Sioux Falls, Marsha Kitchenmaster, Rock Rapids, Douglas (Colleen) Stegenga, Sioux Falls, and Dale Stegenga, Madison, South Dakota; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emma Kitchenmaster; two sisters, Ella Weber and Edna Kitchenmaster; two brothers, Louis and Norman Kitchenmaster; three brothers-in-law, Harold Weber, Carl Ranschau, and Pete Stegenga; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Kitchenmaster.
