Congratulations, graduates!

We've enjoyed documenting your journey

In the coming week, hundreds of local seniors will graduate from high schools in the Star Herald coverage area.
As longtime news reporters, we’ve followed many of these students from preschool through their senior year, documenting their journey and accomplishments along the way.
It’s been our pleasure to photograph them with their kindergarten construction paper art all the way to their senior art projects — permanent legacies on the hallway walls.
We’ve covered their elementary music programs and their all-state music honors, and their middle school spelling bees and their senior high speech awards.
We have great students in this corner of the state doing great things, and it’s been our pleasure to share their successes with our readers.
The Star Herald has been publishing in Rock County since 1873, so it’s an understatement to say we’ve covered generations of students.
They’re important news subjects because they offer our readers a glimpse of the generation to come — of our future leaders and our future employers and employees.
Of course all students don’t follow positive paths and all students don’t find themselves back here in Rock County, but some do.
We hope they do.
Because Luverne and Rock County have a proud tradition of progressive leadership and a talented workforce.
And we hope that continues.
But for those who follow their dreams to the nether regions of the globe, we hope they’ll stay in touch with their roots and remember where their success started.
Facebook helps, but the Star Herald can help, too. As the trusted news source for over 150 years, we are proud to continue documenting the happenings and life-changing events that shape our history.
Our subscriptions travel, and our website is instant.
Congratulations, dear seniors. We wish you well on your journey ahead, and we look forward to keeping tabs on your hometown while you’re away.
And, Lord willing, if you find yourself back here, we (or our successors) will happily document the student accomplishments of your own children and grandchildren.
