Thomas Raker

Thomas Raker, 60, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020, at Sanford Ava’s House.
Thomas J. Raker was born June 30, 1959, in Rochester, New York, where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1977.
In 1981, he moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and worked as a cook in local restaurants.
Tom married Peggy Mann on Jan. 17, 1987, in Sioux Falls. The couple moved to Hamlin, New York, for a period of time and then in 1992, returned to South Dakota, residing in Kimball.
During that time, Tom worked at Trail King as a welder.
In 1997, the couple returned to Sioux Falls. Tom worked as a welder for Alamo, and again cooked at area restaurants.
In 2016, he began working at Walmart as a merchandise stocker.
In his free time, Tom enjoyed fishing with friends at Ft. Pierre and also at area lakes. He also looked forward to the autumn months when he could go pheasant hunting.
Quiet and reserved, Tom’s kind-hearted spirit will be forever cherished.
Tom is survived by his wife, Peggy, Sioux Falls; daughter, Amber; his mother, Shirley Schneider; sisters Jean Ross, Christine LaDue and Linda Raker; his brother, Joseph Raker; and his mother-in-law Betty Mann, Luverne.
