Tammie Jungers Swenson, 58, formerly of Luverne, died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, Iowa.
A memorial visitation was Sunday, March 5, at Hartquist Funeral Home in Luverne.
Tammie Jungers was born March 13, 1958 to James and Donna (Peters) Jungers in Sibley, Iowa. She was baptized in March of 1958 in Sibley and later confirmed at Little Flower in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Tammie lived in Sibley and briefly in Sioux Falls until she and her family settled in Luverne. Tammie graduated from Luverne High School in 1976.
On June 4, 1977, she married Rick Behr at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. She and Rick were later divorced. On Oct. 26, 1993, Tammie married Thomas Swenson at the Rock County Courthouse in Luverne. Tammie lived most of her adult life in Luverne. She worked various jobs until she became disabled. She recently became a resident of Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland.
Tammie enjoyed helping with the church services at Oakland Manor Nursing Home. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, cooking, couponing, fishing, helping others and spending time with family and friends.
Tammie is survived by her husband, Thomas Swenson, Luverne; two daughters, Trista Behr and Jessica Behr, both of Luverne; two grandchildren, Blake Swenson and Shaun Swenson Jr.; her father, James Jungers, Luverne; her siblings, Terrie (John) Binford, Luverne, and Timothy Jungers (Robyn Flick), Sioux Falls; an aunt, Colleen Macken, Portland, Oregon; an uncle, Dale Peters, Worthington; her mother-in-law, Virgene Bullis, Luverne; a brother-in-law, Rodney Swenson, Knoxville, Iowa; nieces, and nephews; two great-nieces; and oter relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Jungers, and her grandparents, Chester and Agatha Peters and Emil and Clara Jungers.
