Sharon Maras

Sharon Helen Maras, 69, Superior, Iowa, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at the Spencer hospital in Spencer, Iowa.
A funeral service was Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at Faith Lutheran Church in Orange City, Iowa.
Sharon Swenson was born Oct. 9, 1945, to Walter and Helen (Moerke) Swenson. She was raised on the family farm in Springwater Township northwest of Luverne and graduated from the Beaver Creek High School in 1963.
On Dec. 24, 1966, Sharon married Eugene Maras in Luverne. They made their home in Alton where they raised their four children. Sharon lost her husband on July 3, 1987, and shortly thereafter moved to Superior where she resided ever since.
She enjoyed nature, bird watching, camping, fishing, sewing, knitting, and she never missed the Luverne Band Festival.
Sharon is survived by four children, Patrick (Mindi) Maras, Marion, Iowa; Paul Maras, Alton, Iowa; Kristy Maras, Des Moines, Iowa; and Bradley (Christina) Maras, North Liberty, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Tony, Dylan, Mitchell, Lennon, Autumn and Christopher Maras, Evelyn Maras, and Cade and Lauren Maras; five great-grandchildren; seven siblings and their spouses, Glen Swenson, and Janet (John) Sudenga, all of Luverne; Gordon Swenson, Hardwick; Marlys (Gary) Roloff, Round Lake, Illinois; Carol Swenson, St. Paul; Gloria (Gary) Ernston, Lakeville; Cindy (Red) Cauwels, Adrian; and her good friends Betty and Naomi; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by a grandson, Sean Patrick Maras.
Arrangements were by Oolman Funeral Home, Orange City, Iowa.
