Sharon Faye Becker, 70, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died peacefully Wednesday, July 21, 2021, in her home surrounded by family.
A celebration of her life was Wednesday, July 28, at Celebrate Church in Sioux Falls.
Sharon Doeksen was born on July 7, 1951, to Peter and Alma Doeksen in Luverne. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1969.
In 1970 she married Daniel Becker and they were blessed with a daughter, Jill. They made their home in various locations throughout their marriage, and after 15 years of marriage Dan and Sharon divorced.
Sharon pursued her associate’s degree from the University of South Dakota, graduating in 1993. She loved her new profession and continued with dental hygiene for 20-plus years prior to her retirement.
Sharon enjoyed shopping, decorating, painting and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved her grandchildren and would do anything for them.
Sharon is survived by her daughter and family, Jill and Shawn Schmidt; grandchildren Kaleigh, Samuel and William Schmidt, all of Sioux Falls; her brother, Donald Doeksen of St. Paul; sisters Patricia (Garlan) Hulbert of Princeton, Linda (Robert) Christensen of Sioux Falls, Diane (Kevin) Erickson of Rochester and Jodi (Gary) Messerich of Eagan; dear friend Lin (David) Starks of Sioux Falls; and many special friends, nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her great-niece, Lynn Zimmer; and her nephew, Derek Christensen.
