Ruth Mildred McClure, 90, Marshall, formerly of Luverne, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, at her home in Marshall.
A funeral service was Tuesday, Dec. 3, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Ruth Gonnerman was born Feb. 25, 1929, to Roy and Florence (Pieper) Gonnerman in Rock County. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne on Aug. 18, 1935. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church on June 24, 1944. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1947.
Ruth married Arlyn McClure on Sept. 4, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. She worked as a checkout person for Counsel Oak Store until she started working for the Rock County Bank. She stayed home and raised her children until 1960, when she went back to work for the Rock County/Minnwest Bank. Ruth later worked for Rock County Oil until she retired. She worked part time at school with the lunch program and later at JC Penney until it closed.
Ruth was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she served as a greeter, helped with the monthly newsletter and counted monthly offerings. She enjoyed volunteering for R.S.V.P. and was a member of the Pink Ladies and the Red Hats. She also enjoyed playing cards and embroidering dishtowels, which she would give as gifts.
Ruth is survived by three children, Jeff McClure, Brandon, South Dakota, Arla (Buz) Cousins, Marshall, and Sandra (Greg) Johnson, Luverne; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Miner, Erin (Casey) Helbling, Tanner (Cassie) McClure, Jessica (Terry) Vandrovec, Monica Cousins, Amanda (Brent) Pederson, Heath Wallenberg, and Jeremy (Tara) Wallenberg; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Margaret) Gonnerman, Luverne; and a sister-in-law, Margie Anderson, Moorhead.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlyn, on Sept. 27, 2016; a grandson, Christopher; a granddaughter, Angela; a great-granddaughter, Breley; two brothers, LeRoy and Doug Gonnerman; and two sisters, Marlis Kleinke and Dorothy Koens.
