Rose Johanna Reed, 105, Redwood Falls, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Rose Mary and David Paquette, Luverne.
A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to mass at the church.
Rose Kennedy was born Aug. 31, 1910, to Daniel and Mary (Myler) Kennedy at home in St. Paul. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy where she worked a number of years as a secretary.
In 1950 Rose married Jim Reed in Chicago. The couple moved to Redwood Falls. She re-entered the work force in the 1960s as the accountant of the Redwood County Highway Department. A few years later she helped launch the local chapter of the MCCL and volunteered on its behalf for almost four decades. Rose challenged herself with computer lessons in her eighties, was an active member of the Twentieth Century Study Club well into her nineties, and purchased her first cellphone as she neared one hundred. She enjoyed bridge, a piece of chocolate, discussions about politics or business, and dancing.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Rose Mary (David) Paquette, Luverne, and Maureen Reed (James Hart), Stillwater; her grandsons, Denis (Jessie) Paquette, John (Erin) Paquette, and Phillip (Paige) Paquette; four great-granddaughters, Mckinley, Kyndle, Savannah and Cadynce; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; and her siblings, Catherine, Daniel and John Kennedy.
