Rory Clyde Burke, 61, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, formerly of Luverne, died Friday, Sept. 23, 2016, at the Bethany Home in Brandon, South Dakota.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. A private family committal of cremains will be at a later date.
Rory was born May 25, 1955, to Clyde and Patricia (Dell) Burke in Rochester. In 1960 the family moved to Luverne, where Rory attended school. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1973. He then attended Augustana College, Sioux Falls, South Dakota State University, Brookings, South Dakota, and Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall.
Rory lived in Brookings before moving to his home in Sioux Falls. He enjoyed reading, watching movies, and listening to music. He owned an extensive album collection.
Rory is survived by his brother, Tim (Pam) Frakes, St. Cloud; two sisters, Keely (Tommy) Frakes-Rau, Avon, and Karen Ylvisaker-Ancil, Marion, Indiana; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; and his good friend, Jim (Rachelle) Hoh, Sioux Falls.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Burke; his mother, Patricia (Burke) Frakes; his stepfather, Dallis Frakes; and a brother, Perry Frakes.
