Robert Lee Severson, 64, Luverne, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Luverne with a private family committal at a later date.
Robert Severson was born Nov. 27, 1950, to Bern and Mary Grace Severson in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was raised in Inwood, Iowa, until the family moved to Beaver Creek in 1960. He graduated from high school in 1969. He was trained in auto body mechanics at Mankato Vo-Tech and graduated in 1971. He served with honor as an investigator and instructor with the 15th MP Brigade in Kaiserslautern, Germany, before starting his lifelong profession of restoring his customers’ cars. He retired from Wayne’s Body Shop in 2013 after 38 years but continued his artistic talent with paints and metals as a hobby until recently.
Bob was a member of Living Way Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Bob is survived by four children, Scott Severson, Gulf Breeze, Florida, Tia Severson, Titusville, Florida, Abby (Aaron) Moeller and Heidi (Skylar) Lidgett, all of Luverne; mother of his children, Verla VanSurskum, Luverne; four grandchildren, Jordan, Logan, Leah and Caitlynn; his mother, Mary Grace Miller, Luverne; three siblings, Carol (David) Farrar, Jasper, Marilyn Nelson, Hills, Terry (Sandra) Severson, Rochester; his lifelong friends, Jim Miller, Bella Vista, Arkansas, and prayer partner Scott Kannenberg, Sioux Falls.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Bern Severson.
