A visitation and time for gathering to celebrate the life of Richard Berghorst, age 59, of Bingham Lake, Minnesota, will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, from 1-3 p.m. at LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom, Minnesota.  A private family burial will be held at Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth, Minnesota.

Richard Berghorst passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, at his home in Bingham Lake.

Richard Lee Berghorst was born to Frank Berghorst and Susan (Brehm) Deutsch on Jan. 27, 1964, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  He attended school in California before moving to Minnesota.  Richard moved around quite a bit throughout his life, and most of his life was spent in Minnesota, in the Luverne and Windom areas. 

On August 8, 1987, Richard was united in marriage to Robyn Bruhn.  The couple was blessed with five children, Stacia, Casey, Tyler, Janessa and Ayden, as well as one daughter, Rebecca, from a previous marriage.  Richard loved milking cows. He also enjoyed fishing and camping, and he loved to be outside working in the yard.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Robyn Berghorst of Bingham Lake; children, Rebecca Berghorst of California, Stacia (Chris) Hetterich of Windom, Casey Berghorst of St. Peter, Tyler Berghorst of Bingham Lake, Janessa Berghorst of Windom, and Ayden (Kaylee Baumgartner) Berghorst of Bingham Lake; eight grandchildren, Makenzie, Chris Jr., Zach, Anthony, Gavin, Savannah, Treyton, and Miranda; three cherished dogs, Tyson, Cappy and Loki; one brother, Larry Berghorst of Sioux Falls; and two sisters, Julie (Rob) Rickenbaugh of Sioux Falls and Teresa Berghorst of Luverne; mother-in-law, Evelyn Bruhn of Adrian; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Berghorst and Susan (Brehm) Deutsch; stepfather, Fabian Deutsch; and father-in-law, Harm Bruhn.
