Raymond Theodore Dorn, 93, Luverne, died Friday, July 31, 2020, at Sanford Luverne Hospital.
       A funeral service was Tuesday, Aug. 4, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Burial followed at St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne.
       Raymond Dorn was born on Aug. 13, 1926, to Joseph and Catherine (Kellen) Dorn in Adrian. He attended school in Adrian through the eighth grade.
       On Jan. 27, 1948, Ray married Vivian Bruns at St. Kilian Catholic Church. The couple moved to a farm near Adrian and began farming. In 1952 they moved to a farm near Luverne. Ray enjoyed being a steward to the land. In addition to time with their family, the couple enjoyed travel and dancing at the VFW with friends. Ray retired from farming in 2001 after 52 years and then helped a neighbor farm for a few years. When his wife, Vivian, fell ill in 1995, he cared for her until her death on March 20, 2002. Ray continued to live in their home and began mowing for Christiansen Farms for several years. He also enjoyed coffee at Glen’s with his peers, trying to solve problems and reminiscing about better days in the past.
       Ray was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne, where he had served as a Eucharistic minister and usher. He was active in the 4-H program and enjoyed helping his children get ready for the Rock County fair. Ray also enjoyed fishing with his family, hunting deer and pheasants, card club, and in his later years trips to the casino. Ray loved to visit and joke around.
       Ray is survived by five children, Colette (Gary) Peterson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Carol (Tom) Foster of Luverne, Colleen Hemme of Sleepy Eye, Kristy Monger of Nashville, Tennessee, and Mark (Jodie) Dorn of Luverne; 13 grandchildren, Tera, Amy, Matthew, Beth, Jonathan, Todd, Stephanie, Chad, Nicole, Abby, Amanda, Nathan and Marissa; 28 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
       He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vivian; a daughter, Mary Ann; sisters Ann Herrig, Martha (Sister David), Margaret (Sister Adrienne), and Helen Loosbrock; and brothers Lawrence, Pete, Ed and Wilfred “Red” Dorn.
