Ramona Joyce Walker, age 87, of Luverne, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home in Luverne.

A visitation will be Friday, January 26, from 12-1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne with a funeral service to begin at 2 p.m.  Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne. To view Ramona’s life history or sign an online registry, please visit www.hartquistfuneral.com.

Ramona Joyce Walker was born on April 3, 1936, to Erwin and Sylvia (Mau) Buegler in Delavan, Minnesota. She was baptized April 19, 1936, (sponsors Adeline and Edgar Eckardt) and confirmed April 10, 1949, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church (Emerald Township, Faribault County), rural Blue Earth, Minnesota, by Reverend W.E. Heidorn. Ramona was raised on a farm near Delavan, Minnesota.

On February 23, 1952, Ramona was united in marriage to Eldon Walker at Immanuel Lutheran Church, also by Reverend W.E. Heidorn.

Ramona worked at Olive Maxine’s Clothing Store in Winnebago, Minnesota, as well as Kenny’s SuperValu in Luverne, Minnesota.  While at Kenny’s, Ramona hosted a radio show, Ramona’s Radio Recipes, on the local radio stations.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, where over the years she sang in the church choir and served on various church boards.

Ramona is lovingly remembered by her four children and their spouses, Debbra (Albert) Van Belle of Luverne, Connie (Glen) Boler of Luverne, Vickie (Larry) Ottem of Big Lake, Minnesota, and Thomas (Twila) Walker of Luverne; nine grandchildren, Jason (Teresa) Van Belle, Todd (Chelsea) Van Belle, Nick (Allyson) Van Belle, Andrea (Patrick) Bennett, Nathan (Dana) Boler, Peter (Gina) Ottem, Tyler (Karolina) Ottem, Ryan (Amanda) Walker, and Steven (Jacinda) Walker; 22 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn (Cayd) Den Herder, Katelynn Van Belle, Avalynn Van Belle, Bryson Van Belle, Riley Van Belle, Kasyn Van Belle, Aubrey Van Belle, Brecken Van Belle, Luke Bennett, Alex Bennett, Jake Bennett, Brooks Boler, Briggs Boler, Weston Ottem, Owen Ottem, MacKenzie Walker, Elizabeth Walker, Landon Walker, Sawyer Seifert, Hudson Seifert, Aria Walker, and Colson Walker; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Maurice and Sharon Walker of Mankato, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon; her parents; great-grandson Eli Bennett; sisters Lavon (Don) Wendt and Shirley (Joe) Perrizo; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Eugene Walker, Mary Lou Walker, JoAnne and Don Ascheman, Shirley and Dale Ripley, Barb Stordahl and Don Stordahl.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to St. John Little Lambs Preschool.
