Pearl Sundem, 99, Hills, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hills. Burial will follow in the Flowerfield Cemetery at Hills. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pearl Roning was born July 23, 1918, to Lars and Ida (Kolsrud) Roning in Hills. She graduated from Hills High School in 1936.
She married Herb Sundem on Oct. 17, 1936. After moving from the farm, Pearl worked at the hatchery in Hills and later assisted both Dr. Johnson and Dr. Bofenkamp in Luverne for many years. After retiring, she and Herb enjoyed traveling, especially with the Prime Timers. She also loved playing games, especially cards. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Pearl is survived by her son, Terry (Marilyn) Sundem of Sherman, Illinois; a daughter-in-law, Dee Sundem of Minneapolis; three grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Marj Roning, and a brother-in-law, Dutch Schubert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, on Jan. 27, 2007; a son, Vermayne Sundem; brothers Dennis, Jim and Ray Ronning; a sister, Marcie Schubert; and a grandson, Scott Sundem.
