Pauline Gorter

Pauline Faye “Polly” Gorter, 61, died on Dec.11, 2020.
A family graveside service was Sunday, Dec. 13, at the Hillside Cemetery in Edgerton.
Pauline Gorter was born on Aug. 15, 1959, to Lawrence and Pauline Gorter. She was baptized into Christ on Oct. 4, 1959.
Polly’s extremely limited mental and physical capacities were part of her life. Her parents, siblings, and extended family as well as some exceptionally kind babysitters, neighbors, teachers, and caregivers treated her with love and dignity. Together they appreciated Polly as one created in the image of God.
God’s creation was a great source of joy for Polly. She loved to sit outdoors in the warm sunshine with the cool breezes and the sounds of nature. Friendly pets blessed her as well.
Polly enjoyed food, especially her mother’s cooking. Polly’s father ensured that the Bible was regularly read with her. Music enriched her life. Polly greatly enjoyed family hymn-sings and long car rides. Bouncing along with her adventuresome brothers on four-wheelers thrilled her. In later years, Polly appreciated wheelchair walks with her sister. She cherished the joy and laughter of those around her.
Polly’s “family” at the Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne cared for her since 2003.
She is survived by her brother Phil and his wife Denise, her sister LaDonna Pryor and her husband Scott, and her sister-in-law Peg Gorter Evans. Polly had eight nephews and nieces and eleven great-nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence (Doc) and Pauline (Polly) Gorter, a stillborn brother, and her brother Lauren.
Arrangements were through the Edgerton Burial Association – Colonial Funeral Chapel in Edgerton.
