Mary Kay Johnson, 67, Brandon, South Dakota, died Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Sanford Foundation Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A funeral service was Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the Spirit of Truth Lutheran Church in Brandon. Interment was Wednesday, March 10, at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery in Pipestone.
Mary Kay Lichtsinn was born on Sept. 10, 1953, to Harm and Vidaleen (Paradis) Lichtsinn. She grew up in Ihlen and attended school in Pipestone, graduating in 1971.
Mary married Dennis Johnson on Oct. 26, 1972. Throughout her adult years Mary worked at Ben Franklin, Good Samaritan Nursing Home and the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. Her job titles included transportation for residents, CNA, physical therapy aide and homemaker. She retired from the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne in 2013. She moved to the Sanford Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls on Feb. 18, 2021.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and spending time outdoors.
Mary is survived by three children, Christy (George) Petersen, Troy (Amalia) Johnson, and Derrick (Jennifer) Johnson, all of Brandon; a daughter-in-law, Amy (Johnson) Lueck of Lake Benton; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and siblings Patricia Meyer of Lake Benton, Debra (Kevin) Morin of Ihlen, and Dawn (Mike ) Petroff of Tea, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis Johnson; her son, Travis Johnson; and sisters Judith Lichtsinn and Elizabeth Lichtsinn.
