Marvin Henry Kindt, 91, Jasper, died Friday, March 27, 2020, at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone.
       A public service will not take place at this time.
       Marvin Kindt was born on Nov. 27, 1928, to Henry and Viola (Lorenzen) Kindt in Luverne. He attended school in Luverne, graduating in 1946.
       Marvin married Beverly Lauck on Jan. 20, 1951, in Luverne. That year, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a medical equipment specialist stationed in Yokohama, Japan, during the Korean Conflict. He earned the rank of corporal. He was honorably discharged in 1953 and went on to become a member of the Oscar Iverson American Legion.
       Marvin and Beverly made their home on a farm near Hardwick. In 1968 the couple sold the farm and moved to Jasper. Marvin retired in 1998.
       Marvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Luverne. He was a frequent blood donor, having received many “gallon pins” from the Red Cross. He loved golf and participated in league play. He enjoyed doing puzzles and playing cards. He was a member of a couples pinochle club for over 65 years. He was also an avid gardener and had a special affinity for jelly donuts, pie and ice cream. Spending time with his family was very important to him.
       Marvin is survived by his wife, Beverly, of Jasper; his children Dennis (Rosie) Kindt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Sandra (Roger) Wittrock of Savage, and Garry Kindt of Maple Grove; nine grandchildren, Justin Kindt, Jason Mydland, Aaron Wittrock, Rebecca (Wittrock) Beskar, Tara Kindt, Stephen Kindt and Rachel Kindt; five great-grandchildren; and siblings Elaine Hamann and Marlene (Gary) Mann.
       He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Merle Hamann.
