Mark Wayne Verba, 36, Luverne, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 25, 2017, at the Sanford Luverne Hospital.
A funeral service was Saturday, Dec. 30, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Mark Verba was born on Dec. 21, 1981, to Doc and Lori (Raymond) Verba in Mitchell, South Dakota, where he was raised. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on March 21, 1982, and received his confirmation in May 1996. Mark graduated from Mitchell High School in 2000. He furthered his education at Mitchell Technical College and completed his associate’s degree in communications. Mark then moved to Luverne, where he began his career as an installer and technician with the communications company that has become Vast Broadband.
On May 28, 2011, Mark married Nikki Brandt at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. They made their home in Luverne and raised their family that included four children.
Mark enjoyed drag racing cars and throwing darts in both competitive leagues and tournaments. He loved being able to help fellow darters who had questions or just if they needed a special coach. Mark valued his family, friends and his service to others.
Mark is survived by his wife, Nikki; four children, Bailey Jacobsma, Brayden Jacobsma, Zane Verba and Macoy Verba, all of Luverne; his parents, Doc and Lori Verba of Mitchell; a brother, Michael (Christine) Verba of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his paternal grandmother, Joann Verba of Mitchell; his parents-in-law, Gary and Nancy Brandt of Beaver Creek; a niece, Tessa Verba; a sister-in-law, Kristi Brandt of Beaver Creek; a brother-in-law, Justin (Ashleigh) Brandt of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; other relatives and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Junior and Darlene Raymond, his paternal grandfather, Edward Verba, and an infant nephew, Kye Verba.
