Madonna Gjerde, age 98 of Elmore, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at River’s Edge Hospital in St. Peter.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore. A time for visitation was held prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial took place at Riverview Cemetery, Elmore.

Madonna Priticia Ann Thompson Gjerde was born on March 19, 1925, in Hebron Township, Kossuth County, Iowa, to Oscar and Annie (Hendrickson) Thompson. She was the ninth of ten children. Madonna married Ervin Maynard Gjerde on May 6, 1948, at Shiloh Lutheran Church in Elmore, Minnesota; the same church in which she was baptized and confirmed and a member all her life.
She is survived by her children, Rhonna (Bob) Jarchow, Dan (Kathy), Douglas (Denise), and Patricia (Stuart) Gray; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild this spring.
Madonna was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard in 2016; parents, Oscar and Annie; brothers, Herman (infant), Norman, Rufus, and Harlan; and sisters, Hazel (infant). Bernice, Lorraine, Ivah, and Murtis.
She loved her family, gardening, quilting, fishing, and God.
