Lilly Sammons, 87, Luverne, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A private family service will take place at 10:30 Saturday, Dec. 19. The funeral service will be live-streamed on Facebook/DingmannFH.
Lilly Yarrington was born Jan. 19, 1933, to Fred and Nina (Crippen) Yarrington. She graduated from Slayton High School in 1950.
Lilly married Leslie Sammons on Sept. 1, 1951, in Slayton. She liked to read and play word games. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and attending their events.
Lilly is survived by three children, Donna (Mike) Rank of Faribault, Mike (Ronda) Sammons of Round Lake, and Michelle Schreier of Currie; 12 grandchildren, Heather Vacura, Josh Klay, Chad Sammons, Angela Sneller, Lindsay Jenniges, Anthony Voss, Ashley Harms, Damien Christensen, Taryn Sammons, Taylor Schreier, McKenna Schreier and Zachary Schreier; 25 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Decker of Mesa, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslie Sammons, in 1996; two children, Kristi Baker and David Sammons; three grandchildren, Shane Klay, Eric Sammons and Melissa Christensen; and son-in-law Paul Schreier.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Luverne Meals on Wheels.
