LeRoy Howard Lindblom, 79, Luverne, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.
A funeral service was Wednesday, March 9, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
LeRoy Lindblom was born Oct. 1, 1936, to Hugo and Elin (Oakstrom) Lindblom on the family farm in Lein Township near Barrett. He was raised on the farm and attended the country school near Barrett. He then attended Elbow Lake Public High School, graduating in 1954. Following graduation LeRoy began working for the Farmer’s Co-op in Elbow Lake.
He married Constance Baldwin May 3, 1958, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barrett. The couple made their first home in Elbow Lake. In 1967 the family moved to Luverne, where LeRoy managed the Farmer’s Union Oil Company for the next 39 years. He also served as an officer of Five Star Co-op Fertilizer Company for 35 years. He retired from both positions in 2006.
LeRoy was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne and had served on the Church Council and the Property Committee. LeRoy was also an instructor for the Defensive Driving Program from 2007–2014. He was a member of the Luverne Jaycees, Luverne Lions Club, board member of the Luverne Chamber of Commerce, member of the Tripoli Club and the Luverne Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Fellow award. He enjoyed traveling with Connie in the convertible, listening to old time music, especially polka music, taking care of the lawn, golfing and enjoying breakfast with the boys in the morning.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Connie, Luverne; two daughters, Debra Solis, Eagan, and Dawn Lindblom (Tim Knaak), Richfield; two sons, Darwin Lindblom (Dr. Jack Byers), St. Paul, and Darrin (Paula Stoltenberg), Lino Lakes; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Christianna and Nicole Solis, Grace and Josephine Lindblom, Kit Lindblom Knaak and Walter Lindblom Knaak; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Wallace, Oliver, Harold, Elmer, Robert, and Willard Lindblom; and three sisters, Gloria Aanerud, Florence Westrom, and Doris Berg.
