Laurie Anne Wenzel, 63, Yankton, South Dakota, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A memorial was Sunday, Nov. 17, at Wintz and Ray Funeral Home in Yankton, South Dakota.
Laurie Foight was born Feb. 23, 1956, to LeRoy and Marian (Anderson) Foight in Luverne.  She grew up in Luverne where she attended school.
In 1974 Laurie married David Smedsrud and had a daughter, Kellie. Laurie worked for K-Products in Rock Rapids, Iowa, for a few years. In 1980 she married David Steuerwald, and they had two daughters, Billie and Bobbi. They lived in Colton, South Dakota, and Laurie worked for Raven Manufacturing and then Kirby Vacuum Company. In 1996 Laurie married Roger Wenzel, and they lived on an acreage outside of Mitchell, South Dakota. They operated Wenzel Construction for 23 years, selling the business in April 2017. In May 2017, Laurie moved to Yankton.
Laurie loved going to rummage sales, and her favorite store was Goodwill. She loved refinishing and refurbishing all sorts of items and making them into something beautiful. Laurie enjoyed traveling, cooking and caring for others. She loved her grandchildren and was proud of them.
Laurie is survived by three daughters, Kellie (Kelly) Pickner of Springfield, South Dakota, Billie (Jerred) Hysell of Yankton, South Dakota, and Bobbi Steuerwald (Chris Tyler) of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Kody Pickner, Oliver, Brock, and Taylor Hysell, and Aeshan Steuerwald; two sisters, Mary Sites of Lismore and Sarah Foight of Windom; one brother, Kevin Foight of Windom; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Kay Frances Bierma.
