Larry Rosenberg, 76, Slayton, died Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home.
A private family service will be at the Iona Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth. A public visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Christ Lutheran Church in Slayton.
Larry Rosenberg was born on April 30, 1944, to Alfred and Kathryn (Tjepkes) Rosenberg in Luverne. He grew up on a farm near Ellsworth and graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1962.
On Nov. 15, 1963, he married Betty Vogt at the Ellsworth Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth. Following their marriage, they farmed near Ellsworth until 1968. They then moved to Owatonna, and Larry worked with the Minnesota State Patrol. In 1971 they moved to Slayton. Larry retired in 1999 from the Minnesota State Patrol as station sergeant.
Larry was a member of the Iona Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. He was a member of AA for over 13 years and provided support and encouragement to many fellow AA members. He was also a member of the Slayton Fire Department for 22 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, watching the Minnesota Twins, riding and caring for his John Deere tractor, going to area casinos and time with his pets.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Rosenberg of Slayton; three children, Lynette (Scott) Ahlschlager of Iona, Brian (Jonelle) Rosenberg of Slayton, and Kim (Jason) Holm of Slayton; six grandchildren, Samantha Ahlschlager, Stephanie and James Buell, Sydney Ahlschlager, Jimmy and Stevie Ahlschlager, Andrew Holm and Charlie Holm; two stepgrandchildren, Mitchell and Abby; two great-grandchildren, Marin Engbarth and Silas Buell; siblings Bruce (Judy) Rosenberg of Ellsworth, Gene (Karen) Rosenberg of Luverne, Joan (Larry) Wendland of Ellsworth, Mary Rust of Luverne, and Steve (Brenda) Rosenberg of Sibley, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Nicole Ahlschlager.
