Larry James Hellwinckel, 76, Hardwick, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at his home.
A funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick with burial at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Larry Hellwinckel was born Feb. 5, 1939, to Henry and Helen (Brockberg) Hellwinckel in Pipestone. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky. He was raised on the family farm. He attended country school through the seventh grade in Elmer Township and then Pipestone High School through the 11th grade.
On April 5, 1958, Larry married Barbara Fodness at Blue Mound Lutheran Church in Rock County. During the first years of their marriage the couple lived in various places, and Larry worked as a farm laborer. In 1966 the couple moved to their current residence in Hardwick, and Larry became employed at Luverne Creamery, which later became Land O’ Lakes. At the age of 56 he became disabled and retired after 30 years of service to his company.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working on cars and remodeling Barb’s house.
Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara; five children, Karen (Arlyn) Sneller, Kenneth, Kristy (Mike) Willers, Beaver Creek, Kimberly (Ron) Ramert, Russell, Lisa (Rod) Rosin, Hardwick, and Kelly (Tom) Dohlmann, Luverne; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Colin Rosin; stillborn twin grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Fodness.
