Keith Mundahl

Keith M. Mundahl, 91, Luverne, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 21, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Burial with full military honors provided by the Luverne American Legion and VFW Post 2757 will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Keith Mundahl was born June 17, 1926, to Rev. J. O. and Harda (Larson) Mundahl in Luverne. He was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Luverne. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1944. Keith left with his friend Orv Jordahl the day after graduation for the U.S. Navy boot camp at Farragut, Idaho. He served his country during World War II on the USS Beckham. After he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, he attended St. Olaf College in Northfield.

Keith married in 1949 and in 1952 he moved to Los Angeles, California.  From that marriage he was blessed with two sons, Mitchell and Stephen. On May 17, 1990, he married Shirley Ahrendt Stoterau in Chandler, Arizona. They were united in marriage by her son, the Rev. Larry Stoterau. Keith retired from the California State University at Northridge, California. After his retirement he and Shirley moved to Luverne in September of 1991.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne and a lifetime member of the Luverne VFW. He greatly enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings with his friends Dallas Bowron and John and Brenda Call.

Keith is survived by his children, Mitchell Mundahl, Oxnard, California; Dennis and Nancy Stoterau, Redwood Falls, and the Rev. Larry and Linda Stoterau, Orange, California; a granddaughter; and seven grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; a son, Stephen Mundahl in 1969; a brother, John Mundahl; and a sister-in-law, Mary Mundahl.
