Kathleen “Kay” Sehr, 90, Luverne, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Hartquist Funeral Home in Luverne. Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery, Luverne.
Kathleen “Kay” Louise Rolph was born to Lemuel and Blanche (Chatelle) Rolph on April 17, 1929, at a midwife’s home in Luverne. She grew up east of Hardwick in Battle Plain Township. Kay attended District 55 Country School and then attended and graduated from Luverne High School. She furthered her education by attending business school in Minneapolis.
On May 2, 1950, Kathleen was united in marriage to Nicholas Sehr at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. The couple made their home in rural Magnolia Township southeast of Luverne where they farmed. Kay was a devoted wife, homemaker, and mother to their four children.
In 1964 they moved to an acreage south of Luverne. Nick preceded Kay in death on May 14, 2008. A short time later, Kay moved into a home on Crawford Street in Luverne. In 2015, she moved to the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.
Kay was a lifetime member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne, having been baptized on April 29, 1929, confirmed on June 20, 1943. Kay was also a member of the Extension Club for many years and truly enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening. She and Nick traveled all over the United States and shared many group tours. Two of her favorite activities were ballroom dancing and square dancing. She and Nick attended dances nearly every Saturday evening with the “The Saturday Night Club” couples for over forty years.
Kay is survived by her four children and their spouses, Sue and Bob Ohnsorg, of Chaska, Steve and Becky Sehr, of Luverne, Kathy Sehr and Grant Johnson of Stillwater, and Mark and Reva Sehr of Luverne; eight grandchildren, Jennie (Chad) Killian, Micky (Heidi) Sehr, Paul (Linnea) Ohnsorg, Jeff Sehr, Peter (Ashlea) Ohnsorg, Katie (Eric) Wahlund, Matthew Sehr and Averill Sehr; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Albertine Appel of Ivanhoe; and one brother, Paul (Mryna) Rolph of Benson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick; her parents; two sisters, Virginia Kuske and Margaret Kasemodel; and three brothers, Jerome Rolph, Phillip Rolph and Stanley Rolph.
