Joyce Elaine Fick, 73, Luverne, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, of multiple cardiac arrests.
       A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne. A visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. In accordance with Minnesota guidelines, facemasks are required inside the church.
       Joyce Brouwer was born on Aug. 7, 1946, to Louis and Gertrude (Baar) Brouwer in Luverne. The oldest of six children, she grew up in both Holland and Woodstock. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1965 and attended Jackson Technical School for nine months, completing the secretarial course. She then worked in Pipestone at Pawnee Corp. and Modular Homes and later worked in Luverne for Tom Quinn CPA for a short time.
       Joyce married Vernon Fick on March 24, 1972, and they moved to the family farm outside of Hills. She loved taking care of her children and being a homemaker. She also enjoyed tending her flower garden, mowing the lawn and offering a helping hand whenever her family needed her. She also enjoyed scrapbooking.
       She and Vernon took many road trips out west with the family, often to the mountains, and enjoyed numerous state parks and monuments while taking in the beauty of the land.
       Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she loved going to their sporting events. She also enjoyed playing cards with them, and she learned to use FaceTime to talk with them.
       Joyce is survived by her husband, Vernon; three children, Tammy (Ken) Bos of Hills, Randy (Kathy) Fick of Beaver Creek, and Susan Buller of New Hope; six grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Sidney, Kenadie, Amber and Annie; four brothers, Dean (Carol) Brouwer, Robert (Cherlyn) Brouwer, Neal (Peg) Brouwer, and Russ Brouwer; two sisters, Evelyn (Gary) Smith and Sylvia (Dale) Kontz; brothers-in-law Robert (Avis) Fick and Egbert Ohling; sister-in-law Sharon Fick; and many nieces and nephews.
       She was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, Louis and Frieda Fick; brother-in-law Eldon Fick; and sister-in-law Darlene Ohling.
