Jordan Jeffery DeGroot,25, Magnolia, died Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as the result of injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
A gathering of family and friends was Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Luverne City Park in Luverne. A memorial service was Friday, Aug. 3, at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota with private family burial in the Leota Community Cemetery.
Jordan Jeffery DeGrootwas born May 14, 1993, to Jeffery and Sheila (Brouwer) DeGroot at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was raised in Beaver Creek until 1997, when the family moved to Tennessee. They returned to Rock County in 2004 and resided in Magnolia. Jordan graduated from Luverne High School in 2011. He then furthered his education at Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls. Jordan began working first at Jay Egge Automatic Service in Sioux Falls and later at Lund Trucking. He was currently working as a fermentation specialist at Fermentation Experts in Ellis, South Dakota.
As Jordan was always willing to help whoever was in need, his final act of kindness was to give the gift of organ and tissue donation to others that may benefit.
Jordan loved working on motor vehicles of all sorts. He especially was proud of his Monte Carlo. He enjoyed riding his ATV and gaming on his PlayStation.
Jordan is survived by his mother, Sheila Brouwer of Jasper; his father, Jeff DeGroot of Magnolia; a brother, Justin (Kayla) DeGroot of Hutchinson and their children, Shyanne and Jocelyn; his maternal grandparents, Conrad (Linda) Brouwer of Leota; his paternal grandmother, Judy DeGroot of Luverne; his maternal great-grandmother, Martha Brouwer of Leota; other relatives and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dwight DeGroot.
