Jason Kroon

     Jason John Kroon, 47, Steen, died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, due to complications of a sudden illness.

A funeral service was Monday, May 7, at Steen Reformed Church in Steen.  Burial followed at Eastside Cemetery in Steen.

Jason Kroon was born June 7, 1970, to John and Emilene (Van Hill) Kroon in Luverne. He received his education in Hills-Beaver Creek and graduated in 1989.  He continued his education at Canby Vo Tech College in Canby, studying diesel mechanics. Jason worked on Bob Cat equipment for Pfeifers Implement and also at UPS airsort as a tug driver.

On Sept. 27, 2014, he married Heather Bush at Jason’s parents’ farm. The couple made their home on Jason’s childhood acreage near Steen.

Jason enjoyed looking for things to do with his family and friends that would bring them all together and build lasting memories. He loved camping, kayaking and tinkering with his tractors. He saw off-roading with his wife, Heather, in their side by side as special time together. He enjoyed photographing his family and friends to preserve special memories. Jason’s outgoing demeanor and quick wit allowed him to make many friends over the years.

He is survived by his wife, Heather, of Steen; children Dallas Kroon of Mankato, Chelsea Kroon and her friend Steven Tacke of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, Dillan Kroon and special friend Cheyanne Cherry of Sioux Falls, Zachery (Emily) Cowell of Luverne, Kellsie (Alex) Rivas of Harrisburg, South Dakota, and Riley Cowell of Luverne; grandchildren Hattie Emilene, Aniyah Rivas, Ajayda Rivas, Jayce Cowell and Kodac Rivas; sisters Kristy (Randy) Goembel of Luverne, Vicki (Bruce) Bennett of Weare, New Hampshire, Heidi (James) Mehlhaff of Luverne, and Emmy (Drue) Glaze of Little Falls; parents John and Emilene Kroon of Steen; mother-in-law Deb Bush of Luverne; and nieces and nephews Matthew, Seth, Sara, Elias, Kylie, Noah, Regan and Dawson.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Alice Van Hill, and his paternal grandparents, Herman and June Kroon.
