Henry Albert Hanson Jr., 79, Adrian, died Friday, July 8, 2016, at his home.
A funeral was Wednesday, July 13, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. Burial with full military honors was at Little Rock Lutheran Cemetery in Little Rock Township, Minnesota.
Henry Hanson Jr. was born April 28, 1937, to Henry and Ella (Petersen) Hanson in Adrian.  Henry graduated from Adrian High School and from the University of Minnesota. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard.
Henry married Alice Shove on July 3, 1962. They made their home on the family farm southeast of Adrian. Henry enjoyed the life and community of farming and raised a variety of livestock over the years. His real love, second only to Alice, was horses. He looked forward to caring for them every day and loved sharing time at shows and races with friends and family. He also loved time spent hunting and fishing with friends and each summer took his children and grandchildren on memorable fishing trips.
Henry was very active in the Rural Electric Association and served as chairman of the board of Nobles Cooperative Electric and of Great River Energy. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne and also served as caretaker of the Little Rock Lutheran Cemetery.   
Henry is survived by a daughter, Julia (Mark) Lewis, Clinton, Connecticut; a son, Jim Hanson, Ames, Iowa; two grandchildren, Adam Lewis, Clinton, Connecticut, and Elaine Hanson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two sisters, Judy Christian, Edina, and LaVonne Hatting, Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice, on Aug. 29, 2014; and two sisters, Elaine Myers and Evelyn Gladhill.
