Henrietta Boeve, 90, Hills, died on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.
A funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 29, at the Steen Reformed Church in Steen. Interment was at the Eastside Cemetery in Steen.
Henrietta Arlene DeJongh was born Nov. 19, 1929, in Hull, Iowa, to Henry and Nellie (Van Surksum) De Jongh. She grew up on a farm near Hull and attended country school. Upon graduation she continued her education and attended Westmar College to earn her teaching certificate. She taught K-eighth grade country school for three years.
     On Nov. 24, 1950, Henrietta married Art Boeve. Art left for the service in 1951, so Henrietta lived with her parents. During this time, their first daughter was born. Upon his return, they lived on the Boeve farm near Hull. In 1961 they moved to Steen and continued farming. In 2005 they moved to Hills, where they lived until she entered the Tuff Home in August 2016. 
     Henrietta was a member of the Steen Reformed Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, an active member of the Women’s RCW, and a participant in various Bible studies. She and Art attended numerous gospel concerts and hymn sings.
Spending time with family and friends was something Henrietta cherished. She enjoyed fishing at West Lost Lake, the annual Boeve summer vacations, bus trips, Extension activities and attending children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed cards, games and puzzles. Crocheting was a favorite pastime, and she made beautiful Christmas ornaments for her family.
Henrietta is survived by her husband, Art Boeve, Hills; three children, Anita (Gregg) Bosch, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Glen (Ann) Boeve, Steen, and Michelle (Greg) Van Wyhe, Rock Rapids, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Chad (Sheri) Bosch, Matt (Kayla) Boeve, Ryan (Athena) Bosch, Tara (Derek) Venenga, Erin (Rex) Metzger, Riley, Rex, and Regan Van Wyhe; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vern (Hester) DeJongh, Hull, Iowa; sisters Bev (Dave) Wesselink, Newton, Iowa, and Diane (Harlyn) Kempema, Rock Valley, Iowa; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and their husbands, Marian (John) Groeneweg, Norma (Leonard) Risseuw and Verla (Harold) Ten Haken; and granddaughter-in-law Andrea Boeve.
