Helen Solma

Helen Mae Solma, 92, Rushmore, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Sunset Cottage in Worthington.
A funeral service was Saturday, May 7, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore. Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Little Rock, Iowa.
Helen Feeken was born Jan. 18, 1930, to Elmer and Florence (Reiter) Feeken in Ransom Township, rural Nobles County. She attended Kunkel School District #21.
Helen married Harvey Solma on Jan. 19, 1955, at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed with Harvey’s parents south of Adrian. In 1957 they began farming south of Rushmore until 1972, when they moved back to the farm south of Adrian. Helen worked as a dietary aide at Country View Manor Nursing Home in Sibley, Iowa, for over 30 years.
She was a lifetime member of the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore. Helen enjoyed gardening and crocheting. Many crocheted projects were enjoyed by her family.
Helen is survived by her three sons, Harlan (Pam) Solma, Luverne, Harris (Carrie) Solma, Sleepy Eye, and Gary (Tammy) Solma, Adrian; three daughters, Linda (Orville) Chambers, Reading, Kathleen (Jerry) Altman, Adrian, and Lori (Kevin) Lens, Ellsworth; 12 grandchildren, Mary (Rex) Hennings, Kevin (Jen) Altman, Jessi (Jay) Graff, Matt (Alison) Solma, Liz (Chris) Mattis, Jonny (Sierra) Solma, Julia (Alex) Lux, Taylor (friend, Jackie Anderson) Solma, Ashley (Michael) Huisman, Emily Lens, Clara (friend, Alan Lawless) Solma and Kasey Solma; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Tillie Feeken, Rushmore, and Grace Feltman, Rushmore; and a brother, Robert (JoRita) Feeken, Worthington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harvey, on May 28, 1997; a daughter, Doreen Lynn in February of 1965; a brother, Ubbe Feeken; and a sister, Fern Jacobs.
