Harris Van Develde
Harris J. Van Develde, 91, Minneapolis, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at a hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born to Henry and Louise (Anderson) Vande Velde on Aug. 31, 1926, at Kenneth. After graduating from Luverne High School in 1944, he attended and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, before serving in the U.S. Navy.
He married Bette Gunderson in St. Paul. They had two children, Tom and Marta. At that time Harris worked for Minnesota Machinery, National Cash Register, and many years selling real estate. In the 1980s he returned to Kenneth where he assumed the duties of president of the State Bank of Kenneth for 13 years until he retired and returned to Minneapolis.
Harris is survived by his daughter Marta McCormack and grandson Van McCormack, both of Minneapolis, his sister-in-law Clare Vande Velde of Kenneth, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette; his son, Tom; his parents; his sister Dolores Pederson; and a brother, Chuck Vande Velde.
