Harriet Thomas, 99, Luverne, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne.
A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. Burial will be in the St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne. A time of fellowship will be from 9 to 10:20 a.m. Friday at the church.
Harriet Gall was born May 21, 1920, to Karl and Anna (Dietz) Gall in Vesta. She graduated from Echo High School as class valedictorian in 1938. She later attended beauty school in Minneapolis.
Harriet married Jimmy Thomas on Nov. 29, 1941, in Wabasso. The couple lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for four years before moving to Luverne. Harriet was a mother and a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne, where she taught catechism, and a member of the LCCW, where she helped serve funeral lunches for many years. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, watching the Minnesota Twins, traveling and fishing on Otter Tail Lake.
Harriet is survived by her six children, Kathleen Meisenheimer, Houston, Texas, Tom (Pat) Thomas, Tyler, Rochelle Thomas, Portland, Oregon, John (Kate) Thomas, Tacoma, Washington, Dan Thomas, Sioux Falls, and Meredith Thomas, Luverne; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmy Thomas, on Jan. 11, 2000; a son-in-law, Wally Meisenheimer; a daughter-in-law, Colleen Thomas; and two sisters.
