Georgiana “Ann” Hoven, 87, Rock Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Magnolia, died Saturday, June 30, 2018, at the Rock Rapids Care Center in Rock Rapids.
A funeral service was Tuesday, July 3, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Burial was at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Georgiana Smith was born April 27, 1931, to Harry and Margaret (Dohlman) Smith in Toronto, South Dakota. She attended country school in rural Rock County.
Ann married Leslie Dean on Oct. 6, 1952, at the United Methodist Church in Luverne. After their marriage, they made their home in Magnolia where they lived their entire married life. Ann had many jobs in her lifetime, including Fey Industries, Edgerton, Renfro Variety Store, Luverne, and she delivered multiple papers throughout the town of Magnolia. Ann moved to the assisted living facility in Rock Rapids after she was diagnosed with cancer and moved to Rock Rapids Care Center in April of 2018.
Ann was a member of United Methodist Church in Magnolia where she served with the ladies circle. She was a lifetime member of the Luverne VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, painting by numbers, crocheting and embroidery work and sewing, cooking and canning. She especially enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Alaska, New York, Switzerland, Nova Scotia, and Branson, Missouri, with the Primetimers of Minnwest Bank.
Ann is survived by her two children, Daniel (Cindy) Dean, Rock Rapids, and Sheila Dean, Urbana, Illinois; three siblings, Charlotte Kuechenmeister, Garretson, South Dakota, Harry (Carol) Smith, Slayton, and Margaret (Bob) Swenson, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
